Can I donate my IRA Minimum Distribution

After age 70 1/2, is it possible to donate my IRA Minimum Distribution and what are the advantages?

At 1517, we proclaim the Good News that we are forgiven and free through Christ Jesus alone, and we rely on the generous support of partners like you to continue this mission.

If you are 70½ or older, making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA is a powerful way to support our work while optimizing your financial strategy. By directing funds from your IRA directly to 1517, you can transfer up to $100,000 per year (subject to IRS limits) without counting the distribution as taxable income. This can:

  • Reduce your adjusted gross income, potentially lowering your tax liability.
  • Satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD).
Your gift will fuel our mission to share the Gospel with all people.

To make an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution:

  • Contact Your IRA Custodian and inform them you want to make a QCD.
  • Provide details such as:
    • The eligible IRA account number.
    • Provide our full legal name (New Reformation Publications) and our EIN/TaxID # (46-3986960).
    • Donation amount (up to $108,000 total for 2025).
    • Specify it's a direct transfer to the charity (not to you) AND request the direct transfer.

Thank you for partnering with us to spread the message of forgiveness and freedom in Christ Jesus. Your generosity amplifies the impact of our shared mission.
