Guidelines for Reprinting and Using 1517’s Content

At 1517, our mission is to declare and defend the good news that you are forgiven and free on account of Christ alone. We are delighted to see others spreading this message. To ensure that our resources are used responsibly and respectfully, we have established the following guidelines:

Covered Content

These guidelines apply to 1517 materials, including:

  • Blog posts
  • Articles
  • Images
  • Worship resources

This does not include material published by 1517 Publishing, 1517 Academic, or New Reformation Publications. Separate permission for that material must be obtained from the publishing department. Inquiries should be sent to steve@1517.org and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Permission and Attribution

Before using or reprinting any of our content, you must obtain prior written permission from 1517. Requests for permission should include details about the intended use and can be sent via our online contact form found here: https://www.1517.org/contact

Once permission is granted, you must:

  1. Provide Clear Attribution:
    • Include the author’s name.
    • Provide the unaltered title of the work.
    • State that the material is from 1517.
    • Include a direct link to the original source.
    • Add the phrase: “Used with kind permission from 1517.”

Prohibited Uses

To protect the integrity of our work and mission, we ask that our content not be:

  1. Used for profit, including in for-profit publications or contexts.
  2. Altered or modified in any way. Content must remain in its original form.
  3. Used in political campaigns, commercial advertisements, or any setting that might compromise its theological integrity.

1517 reserves the right to grant or deny permission based on the alignment of the requesting organization’s mission and values with our own. We aim to handle these decisions graciously and thoughtfully.

Maintaining Theological Integrity

1517’s resources reflect our commitment to the Gospel message. It is vital that all uses of our content uphold this integrity and remain faithful to the original theological intent. If you are uncertain about a specific use, please contact us for guidance.

What to Do in Case of Misuse

If our content is used inappropriately or in violation of these guidelines, we will kindly request:

  1. A public retraction.
  2. An apology to be shared or displayed with your audience.

We approach such matters with grace, prioritizing mutual understanding and resolution.

No Charge for Use

1517’s online content is offered freely to further the Gospel, and we do not charge for its use. We deeply appreciate compliance with these guidelines ensuring the creators are honored and the integrity of our work is maintained.
